As part of my art process, I'm making handmade concertina art books which I fill with collage.
I use my own handmade paper, lace, scrim, mark-making, and found objects including bird feathers, cicada wings, foreign coins, lace, teabag paper, and stamps.
The process of making the little book in the video was a delightful meditation. Selecting pieces from my collection of papers and objects, I arranged and rearranged the items until the design satisfied me, often tearing and cutting to create the right balance.
I crafted the aluminium shields on the covers from tealight holders, working the metal with a ballpein hammer to create texture.
